张钟宁，男，研究员，博士，九三学社成员，1944年1月生于四川省永川县（现重庆市永川区），籍贯辽宁省台安县。1968年毕业于北京农业大学农药专业，现任北京农药学会理事长。曾任中国昆虫学会副理事长、中国植保学会副理事长。《昆虫学报》、《农药学学报》、《Insect Science》编委。

研究领域为化学生态学。主持国家攻关项目、国家攀登项目、“973”项目、国家基金项目、中科院重大项目、中科院重点项目及国际合作等20余项。共发表文章150余篇，其中发表于SCI源刊物的文章30余篇。获发明专利5项。1994年获政府特殊津贴。共培养博士硕士21名。

1984年至1986年曾在英国洛桑实验站（Rothamsted Experimental Station）进行合作研究。
