Then, She came back to India and it continued from where Bom bay Dyeing left off. She came to the lime light when she was Sixteen by appearing in Glad Rags magazine. She went on to host BPL OYE!.She also did a cameo role opposite Rahul Roy and with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s Afreen Afreen music video.

After long gap, She came back with a vengeance and Done Lakme, Sprite, Matiz, Monte Carlo, and the Garden ad Campaigns.She has also appeared on the cover of Great Looks, Elle and Femina magazines. Lisa Ray was finishing high school in Canada with aspirations ofmajoring in Journalism at University when a celebrated fashion magazineapproached her to model for them, and she ended up on the cover. Thiscatapulted her into a state of instant celebrity. Her high-profilecareer got her noticed by Indian filmmakers, but she refused manyoffers until the offbeat _Kasoor (2000)_, which received a considerableamount of attention. Indian-Canadian director Deepa Mehta then cast her as the lead in the lighthearted romantic comedy Bollywood/Hollywood(2002), which went on to be a huge success in Canada. She subsequentlymoved to London to study acting and concentrate on a serious career inthe performing arts. After graduating from drama school she wasreunited with Deepa Mehta in the critically lauded Water(2005). She has since carved out a challenging variety ofcharacterizations- everything from a farm girl to a femme fatale- whichis a testament to her adaptability and desire for challenge.
